For Scouts

Expectations

You are expected to come to a meeting in proper uniform, and with your book. You should follow the Scout Oath and Law, both in and out of meetings. You should also try your best to make it to at least First Class, as Scouts is all about learning life skills, and the road to First Class teaches you these life skills.

How to 

• Properly wear uniform: You are to wear your Field Uniform, which includes your Scout Shirt and Scout Shorts. In the winter months, you can attach stuff to your Scout Shorts to make them Scout Pants. If we're doing stuff like the Personal Fitness requirements,  you can wear your Troop Wicking Shirt under your Scout Shirt. You should also wear your Scout Socks and Scout Neckerchief to all meetings. You can wear your Scout Hat and Merit Badge Sash to regular meetings, but the only time where you have to wear them is at a formal meeting, like a Court of Honor.

• Schedule Board of Review: When you are ready for a Board of Review, speak with the person in charge of advancements, and they will schedule your Board of Review.

• Sign up and pay for a trip: Go to https://trooptrack.com/ to sign up for trips.

• Go on the AT: If you are over 14, or are 13 with adult supervision, you are eligible to go to the Appalachian Trail. AT hiking usually only happens once every 2 years, and after you sign up,  you have to start training. The Crew will organize several practice hikes to help you get ready. You can also practice on your own by going up and down the stairs at your house, if you have any.

• Check out library books: Go to the current Librarian to check out books.

• Patrol Box packing: When we check Patrol Boxes, there will usually be a checklist that we go down to make sure nothing's lost. When packing, make sure nothing's wet from cooking/cleaning.

• Patrol Method: We currently have 5 patrols on the boys' side, being the Aliens, Ninjas, Ravens, Beavers, and Falcons. We also have 3 patrols on the girls' side, being the Cheese Rats, Green Crayon, and Happy People. 

• Duty Roster: When we go camping, each patrol has to assign people to do these things.

  • Cooking: Somebody needs to help cook breakfast lunch and dinner, and somebody also has to help them cook.

  • Cleaning: After the patrol eats, people need to help clean up the mess that they've most likely made.

  • Fire: Somebody needs to maintain the fire, and always keep an eye on it, lest it become too big.

  • Axemaster: If we have an axe yard, somebody needs to be in charge of letting people in and out.

  • Quartermaster: Somebody needs to be in charge of the taking patrol boxes out of the truck and putting them back in. We have multiple troop-level Quartermasters.
