Troop 339 - Rules, Guidelines and Procedures

The content on this page is under revision and will be moved to sub-pages under the "How-To" link soon.

The following information will aid scouts and leaders on Troop policies and procedures. Troop 339 expects every scout to take their personal responsibilities seriously. Our young men are given the reigns to plan, lead and execute the boy scout program. To successfully accomplish this level of independence, we place a heavy emphasis on each boy to be responsible for each other and the success of the Troop. The 12 parts of the Scout Law are the main focus to personal and character development.

Rank Advancement

Rank Advancement

The STEPS a Scout takes to complete SCOUT RANK REQUIREMENTS?
  1. You MUST read Scout Manual subject material for particular requirement. (it is listed in the rank section)
  2. Learn/practice particular skill if required, and be proficient. You may do this on your own or in a planned group meeting. Get help if needed from a trained older Scout or Scoutmaster or parent.
  3. Check off skill in front section of Scout manual.
  4. Have an approved older Scout or Scoutmaster CERTIFY your skill completion in the back portion of your manual.
  5. Take this information and CERTIFYING person to Mrs. Holmes and enter this completed requirement information in the official troop records.
If the requirements were done in a group format, the SCOUT is still responsible to get the date and initials of the certifying person in your book. And then pass to Advancement Committee Member!
  • Who is a certified/approved/trained person? Ask a SCOUTMASTER.
  • If you haven’t contacted the Advancement Committee Member, you haven’t finished the requirement!

Camping Policy

Camping Policy

To give your PLC the time and information they need to plan your activities; the following actions are required from ALL Scouts to attend any designated Camp/Activity:
  1. BEFORE the PLC meeting (FIRST Tuesday of every month), you must notify your Patrol Leader and the Scoutmaster of your intentions for the activities of the month. Are you planning to go to the Camp Out (Yes or No)?
  2. At the First Troop Meeting (SECOND Tuesday of every month) you will need to do/bring two things:
    • Bring a signed Permission Slip for that Camp/Activity.
    • Pay your Camp/Activity Fees as outlined on the Permission Slip.
  3. Contact the Quartermaster no later than Wednesday before the Camp/Activity for any equipment needs you may have.
In order to provide the best outdoor program and still allow the scouts to lead the troop, the above actions are a requirement. The troop committee and the youth leadership work very hard to plan the FUN into your scouting. I feel it is reasonable to ask each scout to adhere to the few steps above. Failure to follow the above rules may result in you missing out on a camp out or activity. If you have any further questions about this policy, please contact the scoutmaster.
